With society cracking down on when and where smokers can engage in their rituals, seeing no smoking signs in new places is not a bit surprising. A lot of states have banned public smoking, putting an end to the complaints of secondhand smoke bothering patrons who don’t care to be surrounded by it. Years ago, smokers could engage in their activities almost anyplace they felt the need. If you didn’t want to be around the cigarette smoke, you knew to not frequent restaurants with bars, clubs or concerts. However, recent studies and research has begun the push to change all of that. The effects of secondhand smoke have been recognized and local governments have begun to stick up for the citizens who don’t want to be around the smoke.
