Though there are times when I will buy a necklace because I think the chain and the charm already look good together, I usually go out and get my own charms to put on different necklaces. It sounds simple enough, but there have been times when I have made mistakes buying some very expensive charms. When I made these mistakes, I had to go out and buy even more things to fix that mistake. That can be costly, especially when you like to spend a lot on your jewelry for yourself or as a gift. The blade of the scissors (or some other hard, but easy to handle, implement) is used to push the ring open while holding it with the pliers. It takes some practice, but in time you’ll have a perfect closure. Browse the jewelry making aisle of your local craft store and you’re sure to find many types of “findings”, that is, hooks, clasps, jump ring, and all sorts of tools and implements to help you fashion your own unique variety of necklace charms and necklaces.

You can also get necklace charms that open up. That would mean the necklace could be any single one you wanted without worrying about size. However, that is not always the case. If you can find what you want with an opening attachment, that always works well. The charms that you love and want to buy, however, may only have a small, closed circle. Examine them carefully when you buy them so you know what you have when choosing your chains to go with your necklace charms.
